Project 14: Designing and Constructing the Outside Environment

Once the buildings were in some sort of order, the summer of 2010 was dedicated to designing and constructing the outside environment to set off the new buildings.

The Gardens
2011 was the year that other outside enhancements were the focus.
The Pergola
I get by with a little help from my friends....

...and my handymen.

Finally, the men arrived to put some order to the blasted rocks....a rustic stone wall and a stone field that we will turn into a firepit.

First, one bulldozer laid out the pile of blasted rocks. Then picked a rock and handed it over to the wall building dozer.
....who placed the rock in the right spot in the wall.

and nudged it into just the right position.
Here are the dueling dozers at work....

And here is the good-looking, finished rustic wall...we'll place loam and plants in the holes to finish the look...succulents....lavender....russian sage....

...And the guys did a great job on creating a curving walking path and completing the gravel driveway to the top of the rock field.

Stand by to see how we re-arrange the rocks in the rock field to create a firepit for roasting marshmallows and dreaming dreams....
