NEXT MEETING: ALL MEETINGS WILL BE HELD AT 6PM.

2010

       ***As of May, a volunteer will choose the book for each meeting, introduce the author and lead the discussion.

1. AUGUST 23, 2010: Becky will host the meeting AND Becky chose The Billionaire's Vinegar by Benjamin Wallace.
    
2. SEPTEMBER 20, 2010: Kim will host the meeting with Deb as a co-host and Kim has chosen Birds of Fall, by Brad Kessler.
    
3. OCTOBER 18, 2010: Dorothy will host the meeting. Liza has chosen The Inn at Lake Devine, by Elinor Lipman.
    
4. NOVEMBER 15, 2010: Beth will host the meeting. Deb will choose the book.
    
5. DECEMBER 20, 2010: Melissa will host the meeting and Melissa has chosen Loving Frank, by Nancy Horan. We will also play a Christmas story for part of the meeting.

2010

1. JULY 19, 2010: Kiersten hosted the meeting. Valerie chose The Elegance of the Hedgehog, by Muriel Barbary and Diane introduced the author and led the discussion.
    
2. JUNE 21, 2010: Suzy Mace hosted the meeting. Dorothy chose Julia Spencer-Fleming's book:  In the Bleak Midwinter and Dorothy introduced the author and led the discussion.
    
3. MAY 17, 2010: Sarah Strouss hosted the meeting. The book was Olive Kitteredge by Elizabeth Strout. Melissa introduced the author and led the discussion.
    
4. APRIL 19, 2010: Jenny Litchfield hosted the meeting. The book was The Woman Behind the New Deal by Kirstin Downey. Dorothy introduced the author; Sarah and Tomlin led the discussion.
    
5. MARCH 15, 2010: Valerie Augustine hosted the meeting. The book was The Help by Kathryn Stockett Suzie introduced the author. Susan pinch-hit leading the discussion.
    
6. FEBRUARY 15, 2010: Susan Morris hosted the meeting. The book was Someone Knows My Name, by Lawrence Hill. Diane introduced the author and led the discussion.
    
7. JANUARY 25, 2010: Susan Earle hosted the meeting. The book was Away, by Amy Bloom.  Sarah introduced the author: Dinny led the discussion. JANUARY 18 at Kathleen Jones' house was 'called' for SNOW!

2009

1. DECEMBER 21, 2009: CHRISTMAS PARTY~~Melissa Thornton hosted the meeting. NO BOOK. WILD HOLIDAY PARTY ONLY!
    
2. NOVEMBER 23, 2009: November's book title was: Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell. Dinny Kerr hosted the meeting. Kathleen introduced the author and Kiersten led the discussion.
    
3. OCTOBER 19, 2009: October's book title was: Drinking the Rain: A Memoir by Alix Kates Shulman.  Sharon Goldhirsch hosted the meeting. Dinny introduced the author and Kim led the discussion.
    
4. SEPTEMBER 21, 2009: September's book title was: Senator's Wife, by Sue Miller. Melissa Thornton hosted the meeting.
    
5. AUGUST 17, 2009 August's book title was: The Stories of John Cheever. Claudia Leighton hosted the meeting.
    
6. JULY 27, 2009: July's book title was: Winter Dance by Gary Paulsen. Kim LaTour hosted the meeting. Melissa introduced the race and the author.
    

7. JUNE 22, 2009: June's book title was: Small Wonder by Barbara Kingsolver. Deb Augustine hosted the meeting.

8. MAY 18, 2009: May's book title was: Kabul Beauty School: An American Woman Goes Behind the Veil by Deborah Rodriguez. Suzy Mace hosted the meeting. Deb Augustine led the discussion.

9. APRIL 20, 2009: April's book title was The Nine, by Jeffrey Toobin. Jenny Litchfield hosted the meeting.

10. MARCH 23, 2009: March's book title was Pocketful of Names by Joe Coomer. Kiersten hosted the meeting; Melissa led the discussion.

11. FEBRUARY 23, 2009: February's book title was Good Harbor, by Anita Diamant.  The meeting was held at McSeagull's.

12. JANUARY 26, 2009: January's meeting was held at Beth's home. The book was Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. Diane introduced the author and led the questions.

13. DECEMBER 18, 2008: December was our holiday party, which was held at Kathleen's house.
    No book for this meeting; just celebration.

14. NOVEMBER 17: November's book was The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific by J. Maarten Troost. The meeting was held at Sharon's house. The author was introduced by Valerie Tu'Ineau who led the questions as well.

15. OCTOBER 20: October's meeting was held at Dorothy's house. The book was Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass,Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office by Jen Lancaster. Deb introduced the author and led the questions.

16. SEPTEMBER: September's meeting was held at Liza Maugham's house on Barter's Island. The book for the September meeting was Nineteen Minutes, by Jodi Picoult.  Dinny introduced the author, Kim led the questions.

17. AUGUST: The book for the August meeting was Three Cups of Tea, One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin.  The meeting was held on Monday, August 18 at Melissa's home. Author presentation was by Melissa Thornton; Judy Milinowski provided interesting questions for discussion.

18. JULY: The book for the July meeting was Pope Joan by Donna Cross; the meeting was held at Deb's lovely Back Riverfront house on July 28th.

19. JUNE: The book for the June meeting was The Other Boleyn Girl, by Philippa Gregory. The date was June 30th and the meeting was held at Diane's house. Kiersten presented the author; Dorothy the interesting questions.

20. MAY: The book for the May meeting was The Patron Saint of Liars, by Ann Patchett. The meeting was held on May 19th at Melissa's newly renovated Bold Colorful Life Inn, 802 Back River Road, first building on your left after Dover Cross comes in on the right. Author presentation was by Melissa and interesting questions by Kim.
     

21. APRIL: The book for the April meeting was Waterbaby, by Chris Mazza. The date April 21st at 6pm and the site was Sharon's lovely houses on Barter's Island.  Sharon presented information about the author; Dinny presented interesting questions about the book.

22. MARCH: The book for the March meeting was Waiting, a novel by Ha Jin. The date of the meeting was March 24th at 6pm and the site was Kiersten's new Captain's House, Formosa Lane, Boothbay.

23. FEBRUARY: The book for the February meeting was The Whistling Season, by Ivan Doig. The meeting was held on Monday, February 25th at 6pm at the Center Cafe. 

24. JANUARY: The January meeting was held at the Townsend Ave Cafe and Grille on January 21st at 6p. The book was Snow, by Orhan Pamuk. Jenny researched and introduced the author and Melissa created the questions which led the discussion.

25. DECEMBER: The December meeting was held at Paula's house on December 17th and was a fabulous, sumptuous Celebration meeting--no book discussion. 5 Buffle Head Cove Road  Boothbay ME  045373.

26. November 26th
    BOOK: A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini
    LOCATION: Jenny Litchfield hosted
    PRESENTATION: Beth researched the author; Dinny shared interesting questions.

27. October 29th
    BOOK: Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen.
    LOCATION: Diana (Dinny) Kerr hosted
    PRESENTATION: Melissa researched the author; Sharon created some interesting questions.
